Delta Zeta

Tackling the Issue

Across the country, SERTOMA Clubs are partnered with the Delta Zeta Sorority. Here at the Mansfield SERTOMA Club, we are partnered with the Delta Zeta Theta Psi Chapter located at the Ashland University. The sisters of Delta Zetas philanthropy are aligned with SERTOMA’s charge and are focused on speech and hearing.

The Delta Zeta sorority is partnered with the Starkey Hearing Foundation. The Starkey Hearing Foundation has given the gift of hearing to thousands of people across the world reaching over 100 different countries. In the year 2010, the founder Bill Austin set a goal to give the gift of hearing aids to over a million people across the world in just 10 years. The Starkey Hearing Foundation is very close to achieving this goal.

The sisters of Delta Zeta are also charged with a service project. Their ongoing project is the Painted Turtle Camp. The Painted Turtle Camp is designed for children with severe disabilities. Their goal is to give these kids a chance to become a child for a week and to forget about their illnesses. The camp is equipped to serve the children with these severe disabilities. A unique feature of the camp is that there is no billing department, the children attend it for free.

The local philanthropy for the Delta Zeta Theta Psi chapter is the Mansfield SERTOMA Club. With this relationship, the sisters have given graciously to the club. They have raised money to help fund the trips that the students attend. The girls are also working on creating a personal relationship with the students who are affected by the SERTOMA Club. Around each holiday the girls pack bags of candy and give them to the students.

Each fall the sisters of Delta Zeta put on an event called the Killarney Rose Ball. At the Ball, there is a silent auction, Chinese auction and other fund-raising events. The sisters are very gracious for the donations given. If you would like to attend or donate to the Killarney Rose Ball please contact the Mansfield SERTOMA Club.
